Description: the counter weight weight battens are 1 1/2″ nps pipe with 5 lines per batten. Working load of 250# per line, 1250# per batten. Working load of the lighting bridge is an additional 2000 lbs above the weight of the bridge itself. The loading rail is stage right and is 20’6″ above the stage floor. The Loading rail is 47′ from the stage floor.
While Newlin Hall does not have a grid, There are 5 upstage to downstage catwalks that allow access to rigging steel.  These beams are 2′ high by 9″ wide and the bottom of the beam is 56′ off the floor.  There are 5 beams total, 0′ (center line), 2 at 12′ off center and 2 at 24′ off center both stage left and stage right.

Stage Space:There is an orchestra shell roof that folds up against the rear wall. The shell roof low trim is 20ft in the air.Thus the last line set is at 31’7″ and it just clears the shell roof. There is a 6 ft wide rear crossover under the shell roof upstage for the last line set.
Acoustic: Because the house is continental seating, the house sound mix position is slightly off center in the rear of the Grand Tier house right. Area is approximately 14ft wide and 8ft deep.

WEISIGER THEATRE AUDIENCE CAPACITY

Weisiger Theatre is a Thust Theatre with 367 seats

STAGE DIMENSIONS

Weisiger is a thust theatre with audience on three sides of the stage platform. The thrust is 15’3″ wide on the downstage edge and widens to a width of 37′ at a point 18′ 9″ upstage. The backwall of the theatre is approximately 44′ upstage of the front edge. Normally, the playing space in this theatre is the downstage most 22ft, with the space behind this becoming backstage space. The entire stage is covered by an Eisenhower wire woven lighting grid at +16’3″ above the stage floor. There is NO FLY SYSTEM.  Drops and such can be easily deadhung from the lighting grid provided that they are shorter than 16’3″ in height. There are two vomitorium entrances that pass under and through the audience at the downstage corners of the the stage.

FLY SYSTEM AND MASKING SYSTEM

There is NO FLY SYSTEM in this theatre. There is an Eisenhower woven wire lighting grid over the entire stage at a height of 16′-3″ from the stage floor. Objects and drops can be deadhung from this grid.
There are 16ft high black panels in tracks that comprise the masking system. These panels slide in tracks on the underside of the grid. The tracks crisscross the width of the stage in the area from 22 feet upstage of the front edge of the stage to the backwall of the theatre. There are eight 7 ft wide panels and nine three foot wide panels and these can be positioned almost any place in the track area, both parallel to the front edge of the stage and at an angle.

NORMAL HOUSE HANG

Weisiger Theater typically has a standard rep plot hung. This general illumination plot covers an area from the downstage edge of the thrust to the first masking panel 22feet upstage of this edge. This area is divided into two downstage areas and three upstage areas. Each area is lit with three ellipsoidal spotlights and three fresnels. Two ellipsoidals are placed 60 degrees either side of full front (120 degrees apart) and the third ellipsoidal is a back light. The three fresnels are place 120 degrees apart, one being placed full front and the two others being places as back/side lights. In this way, the areas are surrounded by lighting instruments and the ellipsoidals are used as key and the fresnel as fill. Shows are encouraged to start with this plot and add specials as needed.
