Born and raised on a farm in Boyle County, Mary Robin named “Jane Barleycorn’s” in order to put a feminine spin on “John Barleycorn,” a known euphemism for “whisky” and because it alluded to her rural experiences of working in the fields in order to bring good things to the table. You can usually find her curating menus, suggesting pairings, or visiting with the patrons.
Jane Barleycorn’s is a downtown neighborhood bar ranked nationally for its wide selection of bourbons and with an equally fine curated selection of wine and cocktail offerings. Its adjoining market is stocked with bourbons, wine, craft beer and spirits, including more obscure cocktail liqueurs. With a warm eclectic vibe, “JBs” is an inviting escape from mainstream culinary establishments. Enjoy delicious cocktails, wine or bourbon while perusing the bottles in the market of just pull up a chair and indulge in premium libations, artisan cheeses/appetizers, and good conversation.
