He is also the co-creator of the long-running Youtube channels Vlogbrothers and Crash Course alongside brother Hank Green\, providing free educational programs to millions of subscribers. \nGreen’s highly-anticipated new novel Hollywood\, Ending releases on September 22\, and tells a behind-the-scenes Hollywood love story that “brilliantly confronts the private cost of a public life.” \nThis conversation will be moderated by Stacey Peebles\, Centre College H. W. Stodghill\, Jr. and Adele H. Stodghill Professor of English and Chair of Film Studies. \nEndowed by philanthropist Lucille Caudill Little\, the Press Distinguished Lecture Series brings notable speakers who have improved our nation’s civic and cultural life to Centre College. The series was named in honor of late Kentucky civic leaders O. Leonard Press\, founding director of Kentucky Educational Television\, and Lillian Press\, founding director of the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h1″ css=”.vc_custom_1689962444644{margin-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgDGlcxYrhQ”]ABOUT THE SPEAKER[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” font_size=”20″ line_height=”relaxed”]John Green is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Looking for Alaska\, An Abundance of Katherines\, Paper Towns\, The Fault in Our Stars\, Turtles All the Way Down\, The Anthropocene Reviewed and Everything is Tuberculosis. John’s books have won many prizes\, including an Audie Award\, an Edgar Award\, the Michael L. Printz Medal\, and a Los Angeles Book Prize. Green’s books have been published in more than 55 languages and over 60 million copies are in print worldwide. \nIn 2007\, John and his brother Hank ceased textual communication and began to talk primarily through videoblogs posted to YouTube. The videos spawned a community of people called nerdfighters who fight to decrease the overall worldwide level of suck. (Decreasing suck takes many forms: Nerdfighters have raised millions of dollars to fight poverty in the developing world; they also planted thousands of trees around the world in May of 2010 to celebrate Hank’s 30th birthday.) Although they have long since resumed textual communication\, John and Hank continue to upload two videos a week to their YouTube channel\, vlogbrothers. Their videos have been viewed more than one billion times. \nJohn and Hank launched educational YouTube channel Crash Course in late 2011 with funding from YouTube’s original channel initiative. World History\, Literature\, Economics\, Physics\, Biology\, Chemistry\, and Government are just some of the courses available to date. Following the success of Crash Course and SciShow\, John and Hank co-founded Complexly\, an educational media studio that creates and produces shows including PBS Eons\, Ours Poetica and The Art Assignment. Complexly has become a global leader in educational media\, building a community of 32 million subscribers and more than 5.7 billion views across its beloved learning brands. At the beginning of 2026\, John and Hank donated the company to the public and Complexly transitioned to a 501(c)(3) non-profit. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″ css=”.vc_custom_1746040497722{margin-top: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f8f8 !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1746040531115{margin-right: 20px !important;margin-left: 10px !important;}”]BEFORE YOU ARRIVE [vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” css=”.vc_custom_1746042820037{margin-right: 20px !important;}”]The Norton Center is located on Centre College’s campus in historic downtown Danville\, Kentucky. The Peking Acrobats push the limits of human ability\, defying gravity with astonishing displays of contortion\, flexibility and control. For over 30 years\, The Peking Acrobats have amazed audiences worldwide with their breathtaking stunts\, precision tumbling\, trick-cycling and daring chair stacks—including their world-record-setting 21foot Human Chair Stack. \nCombining centuries-old tradition with high-tech spectacle\, this exhilarating show is a breathtaking fusion of acrobatics\, music and festive pageantry.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h1″ css=”.vc_custom_1689962444644{margin-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWc9QdX_Fdc”]ABOUT THE ARTISTS[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” font_size=”20″ line_height=”relaxed”]Since their founding in 1986\, The Peking Acrobats have been featured on numerous television shows and celebrity-studded TV specials\, including Nickelodeon’s Unfabulous\, Ellen’s Really Big Show (hosted by Ellen DeGeneres)\, The Wayne Brady Show\, That’s Incredible\, ABC’s Wide World of Sports\, and NBC’s Ring In The New Year Holiday Special. They have also appeared on HDNet TV’s In Focusseries\, and have appeared regularly in 3D on NBC/Comcast’s new 3D Channel. The Peking Acrobats set the world record for the Human Chair Stack on FOX Network’s Guinness Book Primetime television show in 1999: they balanced six people precariously atop six chairs twenty-one feet up in the air without safety lines\, astounding audiences with their bravery and dexterity. The group has also made its way onto the silver screen – company members were featured in Steven Soderbergh’s hit film Ocean’s Eleven\, playing alongside Julia Roberts\, Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Peking Acrobat alumnus Shaobo Qin also appeared in that film’s two sequels\, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen. \nThe Peking Acrobats achieved another milestone in the fall of 2003\, when they made their orchestral debut at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles\, CA. They performed as part of the Hollywood Bowl’s Fireworks Season Finale\, where the company blended their unique brand of acrobatics with the majestic sound of the 100-piece Hollywood Bowl Orchestra\, conducted by John Mauceri. Since their Hollywood Bowl debut\, they have performed with many of the most prestigious Symphony Orchestras in North America today. These include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra; the Ravinia Festival Orchestra\, featuring members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; the San Diego Symphony Orchestra; the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra; the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra; and the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. The Peking Acrobats return often to the Hollywood Bowl\, where they perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as special guest artists. \nThe Peking Acrobats are part of a time-honored Chinese tradition\, rooted in centuries of Chinese history and folk art. Tradition demands that each generation of acrobats add its own improvements and embellishments; because of this\, high honor is conferred upon those skilled enough to become acrobats. The group seeks to uphold this rich and ancient folk art tradition\, bringing it to new technical heights while integrating twenty-first century technology. In the words of Clive Davis of the New York Post\, “THE PEKING ACROBATS [are] pushing the envelope of human possibility\,” combining agility and grace in remarkable feats of “pure artistry.”\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″ css=”.vc_custom_1746040497722{margin-top: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f8f8 !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1746040531115{margin-right: 20px !important;margin-left: 10px !important;}”]BEFORE YOU ARRIVE [vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” css=”.vc_custom_1746042820037{margin-right: 20px !important;}”]The Norton Center is located on Centre College’s campus in historic downtown Danville\, Kentucky. Emmy-nominated Tim Meadows is best known for his iconic portrayal of the smooth-talking Leon Phelps (The Ladies Man) and his scene-stealing roles in Mean Girls and The Goldbergs. More recently\, Meadows played Langston Fleury in the second season of DC’s Max series\, The Peacemaker\, and is one of the principal roles in the CBS workplace comedy\, DMV. \nMoving far beyond his famous characters\, Tim offers a candid and hilarious look at his real life. Navigating the absurdities of Hollywood\, the triumphs and trials of single fatherhood\, and the “wisdom” that comes with being a comedy veteran. With his signature conversational style and impeccable timing\, Meadows proves why he remains one of the most respected and enduring voices in American comedy. \nCONTENT ADVISORY: Performance includes strong language\, adult humor and mature themes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h1″ css=”.vc_custom_1689962444644{margin-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54qPKgJ2R9I”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″ css=”.vc_custom_1746040497722{margin-top: 40px !important;background-color: #f8f8f8 !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1746040531115{margin-right: 20px !important;margin-left: 10px !important;}”]BEFORE YOU ARRIVE [vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” css=”.vc_custom_1746042820037{margin-right: 20px !important;}”]The Norton Center is located on Centre College’s campus in historic downtown Danville\, Kentucky.
