They also scored a number one hit when they they were asked to recreate Queen’s harmonies for “The Real Life” with Fatboy Slim. \nBy now\, they were in demand in European arenas playing Ahoy\, where the now reformed Queen would be performing only a few months later. They were delighted to sell out Forest National Arena where Queen filmed the concert set piece videos such as Hammer To Fall and Don’t Stop Me Now. \nKiller Queen then joined forces with Bjorn Again and The Bootleg Beatles for a Waverley Stadium show in Edinburgh. It was this performance that led to the band being selected to represent Queen in a re-staged tribute LiveAid concert held by Sir Bob Geldof. They performed with him at his arena charity concert to raise funds for the homeless. \nKiller Queen set their sights on America including the awe inspiring Red Rocks Arena in Colorado – one of the countries most prestigious venues. The Beatles\, Springsteen\, U2 have all played there and the band are delighted it’s become a regular sell out fixture on Killer Queen’s tour sheet. \nDuring 2020 the band released a single in the style of Queen written by Patrick. “We’ll Fight Again”delighted Queen fans all over the world.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”PHOTO GALLERY” tab_id=”1693319199255-e86b10cd-a331d3d4-3651d927-88d77692-edbeccd7-0993″][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”SOCIAL LINKS” tab_id=”1693319199265-12d1aca6-b957d3d4-3651d927-88d77692-edbeccd7-0993″]FacebookInstagramYoutubeRSS[/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h2″ css=”.vc_custom_1689884969418{margin-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” color=”#000000″]\nThank you to our 2023/2024 Season Partner G&J Pepsi. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h1″ css=”.vc_custom_1686325566538{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/QU3a0iOc5ZY”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” el_id=”accessibility”][vc_column]ACCESSIBILITYPlease note that the Norton Center is a historic venue with limited accessible seating. Their sophomore release\, Pale\, was recorded independently in 1989. Both records were released by Columbia Records\, in 1989 and 1990 respectively. \nToad’s third studio album\, “Fear\,” followed in 1991 and included their multi-format iconic hit singles “All I Want” and “Walk on the Ocean”\, was certified RIAA Platinum and further solidified the band’s popularity and mainstream success. \nIn 1994 the band released “Dulcinea\,” which included songs “Something’s Always Wrong\,” and “Fall Down\,” both staples at alternative and mainstream radio\, that helped Toad to earn their second RIAA certified Platinum Album and make Toad the Wet Sprocket a household name. In 1995 Toad released In Light Syrup\, a collection of rarities that included the hit “Good Intentions”\, which was featured on the Platinum-selling Friends soundtrack. \nThe band took a break in the late 1990s\, with the members pursuing solo projects. However\, they reunited in 2006 and have continued to perform together ever since. In 2013\, they released their first album in 16 years\, “New Constellation\,” which was funded by their fans as one of the most successful music Kickstarter campaigns in history. The album includes fan-favorite tracks “The Moment”\, “California Wasted” and “Enough” that showcase the bands growth and versatility. The album received critical acclaim and was followed by a successful tour. \nToad’s most recent studio album “Starting Now” (2021) marked a return to form for the band\, with its catchy melodies\, introspective lyrics\, and signature harmonies. It well-received and showcased the band’s signature sound while also exploring new sonic territories. Songs like “Transient Whales”\, “Starting Now” and “Hold On” serve as core performance tracks at live shows and as fan favorites. \nThroughout their career\, Toad the Wet Sprocket has remained humble and grateful for the support of their fans. Lead vocalist Glen Phillips has stated in interviews that the band is amazed by the loyalty of their audience and is honored to continue creating music that resonates with them. \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”] \nWith a reputation for spectacular live performances\, the genesis of multi-platinum artist THE VERVE PIPE can be traced back to the early 90s when the principal members of two rival Michigan bands joined forces. After releasing two independent albums\, I’ve Suffered A Head Injury and Pop Smear\, the group quickly garnered a regional following for its textured rock songs distinguished by innovative arrangements\, soul-searching lyrics and layered vocals. \nIn addition to their success on radio\, TV and film\, sold-out concert dates throughout the U.S.\, Canada\, Europe and Australia\, features in Spin and Rolling Stone and videos on MTV and VH1\, the band have made numerous television appearances\, including ‘The Tonight Show With Jay Leno’ and ‘Late Night With David Letterman.’ \nAfter an eight year hiatus\, The Verve Pipe were approached to submit an original song for a compilation album of children’s music. That session inspired A Family Album\, their critically acclaimed introduction to the world of children’s music\, as well as their follow up release\, Are We There Yet?. Both albums contain music intended for the entire family\, with fun and inventive lyrics set to the memorable melodies the band is known for. \nThe Verve Pipe continue to tour\, performing both rock and kids shows throughout the U.S.\, including special appearances at Lollapalooza\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Hangout Music Festival\, SummerStage in Central Park\, and many more.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”PHOTO GALLERY” tab_id=”1693319199255-e86b10cd-a331d3d4-3651d927-88d77692-edbeb5b9-27da”][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”SOCIAL LINKS” tab_id=”1693319199265-12d1aca6-b957d3d4-3651d927-88d77692-edbeb5b9-27da”][vc_column_text text_align=”center”]Toad the Wet Sprocket[/vc_column_text]FacebookInstagramYoutubeRSS[vc_column_text text_align=”center”]The Verve Pipe[/vc_column_text]FacebookInstagramYoutubeRSS[/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h2″ css=”.vc_custom_1689884969418{margin-bottom: 80px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus” color=”#000000″]\nThank you to our 2023/2024 Season Partner G&J Pepsi. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h1″ el_id=”toadseatmap”][vc_column]SELECT YOUR SEATS[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]\nPlease click on the seats you would like to purchase (maximum 8 tickets per order). His rich and distinctive baritone voice\, songwriting skills and love of traditional and modern Country music\, have allowed him to do just that and Alex has proven he is here to stay. \nMiller’s rise has been swift. After his Idol exit\, he quickly secured management\, signed with Nashville-based Billy Jam Records\, and released his well-received debut album\, MILLER TIME. The disc displays the broad range of Alex’s traditional musical influences\, including Swing\, Bluegrass\, Country\, and Gospel. “It’s been a whirlwind for sure\,” says the outgoing and confident\, 6’ 6” Kentuckian. “I went from performing regionally to playing at the Ryman Auditorium for goodness sakes.” In addition to the Ryman\, in 2021\, Alex entertained at multiple State Fairs (Kentucky\, Missouri\, New York\, Washington\, Wisconsin)\, and he opened for Hank Jr.\, Josh Turner\, Lee Brice\, and Shenandoah. \nAlex has been performing professionally since the age of seven\, progressing steadily from shows in and around his hometown of Lancaster\, Kentucky to larger markets\, appearing at the Dolby Theatre\, Lucas Oil Stadium\, WoodSongs\, Renfro Valley\, Lincoln Jamboree and more.  His kind of Country is a style that’s easy to like – much like Alex. He’s wholesome and inspiring – with a baby face and enthusiasm to spare. Cellists Sihao He\, Sydney Lee\, Haddon Kay\, and Luiz Fernando Venturelli study cello performance at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music with Hans Jørgen Jensen. Named after the Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall at Bienen\, the Galvin Cello Quartet began during the height of the pandemic. Its story is a testament to the power of teamwork and exceeds all expectations of traditional chamber music.   \nSome of the greatest joys as a musician are the friendship and camaraderie strengthened through collaborative music-making. As part of a tight-knit cello studio at Bienen\, the four friends wanted to channel their collective passion for music instilled in them by Jensen. But with pandemic restrictions in place\, the school running virtually\, and Venturelli back home in Brazil\, performing as a string quartet was not possible.  \nDespite these challenges\, the four cellists\, each with their own personality and charisma and eager to explore the colors and timbres of the cello together\, decided to enter the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. With the deadline quickly approaching\, Venturelli’s return to the States came sooner than anticipated\, and all quarantine guidelines and safety measures were taken. The following twelve days were filled with preparation\, rehearsals\, and one final recording session of all the required repertoire before the quartet exploded onto the scene.  \nThe pandemic may have dampened and muted many concert stages\, hopes\, and livelihoods for artists and musicians\, but music has limitless possibilities to heal and restore. Since its illustrious debut\, the quartet has continued to play together and prepare new repertoire for upcoming concerts. With their untamable desire to create\, change\, and ultimately bring joy through music\, He\, Lee\, Kay\, and Venturelli are more excited than ever to explore and expand the possibilities of a cello quartet. Through its music\, the Galvin Cello Quartet hopes to celebrate and convey the values of friendship\, creativity\, and resilience in an ever-changing world. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″][vc_column]ACCESSIBILITY[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]Please note that the Norton Center is a historic venue with limited accessible seating. Zakir Hussain is an international percussion phenomenon\, a virtuoso classical tabla player and a national treasure to his native India. Edgar Meyer\, a five-time Grammy winner and master of the double bass\, combines unparalleled technique and musicianship with a unique gift of composition. Rakesh Chaurasia is part of a multi-generational lineage of classical Indian bansuri (flute) players. Coming together as musical maestros and genre-benders\, these longtime friends and innovators create a fusion that is uniquely their own.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”white” css=”.vc_custom_1680899136181{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1677242952067{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”][vc_column]►[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h2″][vc_column]ABOUT THE ARTISTS[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]The first time banjo legend Béla Fleck\, tabla master Zakir Hussain\, and double bass virtuoso Edgar Meyer got together to make an album\, it was to write\, not to play.   \nWhen Fleck and Meyer were looking for a third partner for a triple concerto they had been commissioned to write to mark the opening of Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center\, they thought of Hussain\, who was quite interested in orchestral writing. “We thought we could learn a whole lot from this guy!” says Béla. The result was The Melody of Rhythm (2009)\, recorded with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin.  \nIt wasn’t until the three began touring to promote the album that the trio’s true potential became apparent. Although each had a base in a different musical realm — bluegrass for Fleck\, Indian classical music for Hussain\, and Western classical music for Meyer — they shared a gift for improvisation as well as an ability to reach across musical genres as casually as neighbors might chat over a backyard fence.” When we are performing on stage\, in composing mode or creating mode\, we are basically having a conversation\,” says Hussain. “So the music emerges as we speak.”  \nHence As We Speak\, an album that not only showcases the group’s breathtaking abilities as instrumentalists\, but underscores the wide range of musical influences at their command. Across a dozen tracks\, the group glides easily between the cerebral complexity of Indian rhythm and the gut-level groove of a funky bass line\, sounding equally at home with the rigors of raga.  \nAdding to that magic is Rakesh Chaurasia\, who plays bansuri\, an Indian bamboo flute. When the trio was touring India\, Hussain — who knew Rakesh through his uncle\, Indian flute legend Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia — invited the younger flautist to sit in\, and the chemistry was immediately apparent. “I think we wanted to see if we could do something a little more organic with just a small group\,” says Meyer. “And to have somebody who plays as beautifully as Rakesh join us really opened it up to a more lyrical and melodic situation.”   \n“What I think is good about this quartet is that everybody has to stretch in the direction of the other people\,” adds Fleck. “To me\, a collaboration where nobody changes is not a collaboration. It’s a mashup. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But I like a collaboration where I have to learn a bunch of new things from the other people. And in this case\, I’m learning like crazy.”  \nBéla Fleck\nFew musicians in any category seem as uncategorizable as Béla Fleck. After initially making his mark with the progressive bluegrass group New Grass Revival\, Fleck proceeded to take his instrument\, as New York Times critic Jon Pareles noted\, “to some very unlikely places.” He formed the Flecktones\, a groundbreaking group whose repertoire ranged from fusion to Bach; the group celebrates its 46th anniversary this year. In addition\, he has played jazz with Chick Corea\, American roots with his partner\, banjoist Abigail Washburn\, written concertos for banjo and orchestra\, and created a documentary film and album\, Throw Down Your Heart\, that examined the banjo’s African roots. Along the way\, he has won 16 Grammys across 10 categories.    \nZakir Hussain\nThe pre-eminent classical tabla virtuoso of our time\, Zakir Hussain is appreciated as one of the world’s most esteemed and influential musicians\, one whose mastery of his percussion instrument has taken it to a new level\, transcending cultures and national borders. A child prodigy\, accompanying India’s greatest musicians and dancers from his early years\, and touring internationally while still in his teens\, Zakir has been at the helm of many genre-defying collaborations including Shakti\, Remember Shakti\, Masters of Percussion\, Diga\, Tabla Beat Science\, CrossCurrents\, Sangam and Grammy-award winners Planet Drum and Global Drum Project. A revered composer and educator\, Zakir is the recipient of countless honors\, most recently the 2022 Kyoto Prize in Arts and Philosophy\, the 2022 Aga Khan Music Award for Lifetime Achievement\, and in January\, 2023\, the title of Padma Vibhushan\, India’s second highest civilian award.   \nEdgar Meyer\nAptly described by The New Yorker as “the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively un-chronicled history of his instrument\,” double bassist and composer Edgar Meyer is at home in a broad spectrum of musical styles. A MacArthur Fellow and Avery Fisher Prize winner\, he is eminently at home within classical music\, both performing traditional works and also his significant catalog of original solo\, chamber\, and orchestral pieces. His 30-year relationship with Yo-Yo Ma has yielded seven recordings together\, and his upcoming projects include a duo recording with jazz bassist Christian McBride and a recording of all four of his concertos with the Knights and the Scottish Ensemble\, produced by Chis Thile.  \nRakesh Chaurasia\nLike Zakir Hussain\, Rakesh Chaurasia comes from Indian classical music royalty. His uncle\, Pandit Hariprasad Chaursia\, is widely considered the greatest bansuri player in India\, and Rakesh — who started playing at age five — is deemed his most brilliant student. Not only has he mastered the techniques of Indian classical music\, he has developed additional techniques allowing him to venture into other styles of playing\, particularly with his crossover band Rakesh and Friends. A composer as well as flautist\, he has written and performed on numerous Indian movie soundtracks\, and in 2007 was awarded the Indian Music Academy Award.  [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″][vc_column]ACCESSIBILITY[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]Please note that the Norton Center is a historic venue with limited accessible seating. At first a familiar chord strikes everyone’s attention\, then comes a catchy chorus followed by a memorable solo or remarkable moment of improvisation. Such an ear-pleasing arsenal carries into a non-stop evening of precise performance taking fans on a roller coaster ride of electric instrumentation\, timeless balladry\, unpredictable jamming and the ultimate sing-a-long experience. It’s a position held by a troupe of true musical luminaries who through over five decades in show business have been loaded with more hits than members can count\, record sales well into the multi-millions and more drama than a VH1 “Behind the Music” episode and an E! “True Hollywood Story” documentary combined. \nThe name is none other than The Guess Who\, a group that’s connected with the masses throughout a exultant hit parades panning fourteen Top 40 hits\, including “These Eyes\,” “Clap For the Wolfman\,” “Hand Me Down World\,” “No Time\,” “Star Baby” and “Share the Land.” Add in fellow classics and double sided singles like their #1 rock anthem “American Woman” and “No Sugar Tonight\,” plus “Laughing” and “Undun\,” and the Canadian bred stateside conquerors are amongst music’s most indelible treasures who are eternally etched within the very fabric of pop culture history. \n“You’re going to see an excellent version of the songs and hear exactly how they should sound or be played\,” verifies founding member and original drummer/songwriter Garry Peterson. “We’re coming at a new generation of fans who are seeing how the band can execute with enthusiasm. And we’re also making sure the respect level remains at an all time high for how the music was initially recorded and remains at an all time high for the fans who have been with the band from the beginning.” \nJoining Peterson onstage are veteran musicians keyboard player/flutist Leonard Shaw\, lead guitarist Will Evankovich\, bass legend Rudy Sarzo\, and lead vocalist/guitarist Derek Sharp. Together the quintet annually launches an ambitious North American tour to adoring audiences and selling out venues with their awe-inspiring execution\, deft meticulousness and decades of radio penetrating smashes.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″][vc_column]ACCESSIBILITY[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]Please note that the Norton Center is a historic venue with limited accessible seating. This exuberant musical theater masterpiece\, directed and conducted by Albert Bergeret with choreography by Bill Fabris\, is performed in its original format. The rich sounds of full orchestra\, chorus\, and legitimate vocal soloists resonate with classic elegance and power while the company’s vibrancy\, energy and contemporary sense of humor keep the show alive and exciting to a modern audience. The Pirates of Penzance – they’ll steal your heart away! \n“Spirited … delightful … meticulous direction …” –New York Post[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” css=”.vc_custom_1677242952067{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”][vc_column]►[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h2″][vc_column]ABOUT THE PRODUCTION[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]The Pirates of Penzance\, or The Slave of Duty was first performed at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York City on December 31\, 1879. It was the only Gilbert & Sullivan operetta to have its world premiere in the United States and it has remained popular both here and throughout the English speaking world ever since. Gilbert’s wit (always incisive but never vicious or dated) and Sullivan’s memorable score (including the original tune from which “Hail\, hail the gang’s all here” is drawn) are among the most valuable treasures of musical theater history. \nPatter songs are a Gilbert & Sullivan trademark and Pirates features the most famous of them all\, “I am the very model of a modern Major-General.” This jaunty tune has been cleverly set to different words countless times (Tom Lehrer’s element song a notable example) and used in commercials to sell every-thing from Campbells soup to Handi-wipes\, cars\, newspapers and other items. Pirates also contains some of Gilbert’s most famous lyrics such as the often used quotation “a policeman’s lot is not a happy one” from the act two lament of the diffident “men in blue.” Other highlights of the show include “For I am a Pirate King”\, the pirates’ “Here’s a first rate opportunity”\, the policemen’s “When the foeman bears his steel” and Mabel’s show stopping coloratura aria “Poor wand’ring one”. \nThe plot of Pirates centers on the dilemma of young Frederic who\, as a child\, was mistakenly apprenticed to the pirates until his twenty first birthday. Since he was born in leap year on February 29\, he is honor bound to remain a pirate until the distant date of 1940\, despite his moral objection to piracy. Helping Frederic to deal with this unusual predicament are the brash Pirate King\, Ruth – the pirate maid-of-all-work\, romantic Mabel\, and the delightfully stuffy Major-General Stanley.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true”][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row remove_bottom_col_margin=”true” local_scroll_id=”h3″][vc_column]ACCESSIBILITY[vc_column_text font_family=”Copernicus”]Please note that the Norton Center is a historic venue with limited accessible seating.
