BIO

Since its founding in 1937, the Louisville Orchestra has been a trailblazer in the world of classical music, known for embracing bold ideas and expanding the role of an American symphony orchestra. Under the creative leadership of Music Director Teddy Abrams, the orchestra continues to push boundaries with exciting new commissions, innovative performances, and collaborations that bring music to life in unexpected ways.

From winning a Grammy Award for The American Project to performing Teddy Abrams’ original composition Mammoth in Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave, the Louisville Orchestra is committed to making music that resonates beyond the concert hall. Whether through immersive live performances, educational programs, or bringing concerts to communities across the state, the orchestra remains dedicated to inspiring audiences and making music accessible for everyone.

IN HARMONY

Led by Music Director Teddy Abrams, the In Harmony Tour has brought the joy of music to communities across Kentucky since its launch in November 2022. Thanks to an extraordinary $4.3 million appropriation from the Kentucky General Assembly, this tour will continue into 2026, reaching even more Kentuckians with live performances and community collaborations. So far, the LO has connected with over 40,000 people across 45 counties, sharing unforgettable moments with acclaimed artists like Grammy-winners Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, mandolinist Chris Thile, cellist Ben Sollee and violinist Tessa Lark.

The tour brings the Louisville Orchestra to communities across Kentucky, including performances from Ashland to Murray. Attendance includes a wide range of listeners—schoolchildren on field trips, families from rural counties, local students, and longtime classical music fans. Many attendees are hearing a live orchestra for the first time. Each concert draws a mix of new and returning audiences, expanding the Orchestra’s reach and impact far beyond Louisville.
