AGATHE AND ADRIEN

Blurring the lines between circus show, contemporary dance and performance art, Agathe and Adrien invite audiences to question preconceived ideas. In this physically impressive and touching creation, duo Agathe Bisserier and Adrien Malette-Chénier push the limits and expectations of their own bodies and gender norms.

Recent graduates of the famed Circus School of Québec, Agathe and Adrien have developed a unique, highly physical circus and dance vocabulary. The duo has worked with the renowned Cirque Éloize and y Giners companies on European tours and circus festivals around the world.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

The duo AGATHE AND ADRIEN graduated from the Circus School of Quebec in 2018. They work at the edge of circus, dance, and theater/performing arts.

Their multi-disciplined skills have allowed them to develop a unique circus vocabulary. As emerging artists, Agathe and Adrien began their careers working for well-established circus companies in Quebec, but wanted to express their social and environmental values through a committed circus. So, they turned towards independent circus creations presented in Quebec, including Branché, Piece of Mind, Interact, and N.Ormes.

Tired of the obsolete and toxic patterns of male/female relationships present in the circus world today, the duo combines the codes of circus, contemporary dance and performance art to create a rich, complex acrobatic language, as a part of a feminist approach to redefining standards.

Please note that the Norton Center is a historic venue with limited accessible seating. Special reserved wheelchair and companion seating is available for all shows. Interpretive services and large print programs are available upon request at least 20 days in advance of the performance. Please call the Box Office at 859-236-4692 to request assistance with your accommodations.
