Student Matinee – Brandee Younger

BRANDEE YOUNGER

Brandee Younger is a classically trained harpist who infuses classical, jazz, soul and funk influences into her music. This program will allow students to explore the harp, bass and drums to show how they create incredible music together in acoustic and electric styles.

Recommended for grades 6-12

Kentucky K-12 public schools are eligible to receive FREE student tickets thanks to the Norton Center’s Arts for the Classroom Ticket Subsidy (ACTS) program. ACTS funding is only available to subsidize the cost of student tickets. For more information, visit our Matinees + Programs page.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Over the past fifteen years, she has worked relentlessly to stretch boundaries and limitations for harpistsIn 2022, she made history by becoming the first black woman to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition. That same year, she was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Ever-expanding as an artist, she has worked with cultural icons including Common, Lauryn Hill, John Legend, and Moses SumneyHer current album, Brand New Life, builds on her already rich oeuvre, and cements the harp’s place in pop culture
