Norton Center kicks off the spring with performances that hit all the right notes

Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts continues to bring world-class entertainment to Central Kentucky with upcoming performances that hit all the right notes.

Swingin’ into the spring season in style, the Norton Center will welcome Sing & Swing – A Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents Production (February 20) to the Newlin Hall stage. This tour celebrates the Great American Songbook in all of its sophisticated- and playful- glory, brought to life by star trumpeters and vocalists Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III.

Prepare to be transported to the golden age of jazz with a night of sensational music and infectious rhythms, featuring songs by Gershwin, Ellington, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and many more. Joined by a who’s who of New York all-stars, this will be an unforgettable evening of singin’ and swingin’ with Bria and Benny!

“The Norton Center has a rich history of hosting world-class trumpet performers, and welcoming Bria and Benny onto the Newlin Stage continues this tradition with an evening honoring the legacy of jazz,” said Norton Center Executive Director Steve Hoffman. “We take great pride in our long-standing relationship with Jazz at Lincoln Center, and it’s truly a pleasure to welcome them back for this special experience.”

Witness six centuries of history sing through the Norton Center with one of the oldest and most famous choirs in the world! Renowned for their impeccable vocal talent and charming performances, the Vienna Boys Choir (March 1) promises an evening of classical excellence and musical mastery that transcends generations. This illustrious group of child musicians has been delighting music lovers across the globe for six centuries with their purity of tone, distinctive charm and diverse repertoire, which includes everything from medieval to contemporary to experimental music.

“We are so excited to welcome the Vienna Boys Choir back for their fifth performance at the Norton Center, especially as we celebrate our 50th anniversary season,” said Hoffman. “It’s always a privilege to host such a renowned and esteemed ensemble, and we look forward to another unforgettable evening of music and history.”

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram raves “There’s no more gratifying sound than that of children singing. And there’s no more polished ensemble of children’s voices than the Vienna Boys Choir.”
